Our Classes

The classroom program is built on activities designed to encourage intellectual, social, emotional and physical development. Students learn how to participate in groups, how to cooperate, and how to share. They are guided gently towards greater independence, creativity and responsibility in all areas of life.

We use the A Beka Book Curriculum in our learning programs, with age-appropriate learning tools for each program. This curriculum originates from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL, where it is written and distributed. The curriculum we use is used in private and Christian schools around the world. Not only are the A Beka Book materials very colorful and fun to use, they also allow our teachers to integrate puppets, poems, and songs throughout the curriculum during the day.

Here at Candlewyck Preschool, we offer the following exciting, action-packed classes.

Pre-2’s Class

Our Pre-2’s class focuses on each child’s development through daily experiences and relations with their caregiver. Activities are geared towards fun and learning. Daily stories, finger-plays, hands on activities, and outdoor time help develop the whole child. The children will learn to develop gross and fine motor skills. They will be growing socially by learning to play with peers, share and communicate. The children will begin to learn self-control and responsibilities, by cleaning up after playing, using work centers and at lunchtime. This combination of structured activities and child selected activities allow teachers to prepare their emerging students to be one and two years old.

Pre-requisites for any child entering the Pre-2’s class include:

  • At least 1 year old
  • Walking steadily on his/her feet
  • Drinking from a regular cup (child spill proof cup)
  • Off bottles/pacifiers

4-Year-Old Class

Our four-year-old class goal is to prepare our students for kindergarten. Our curriculum is based on teaching number skills, readiness skills, phonics, and writing. Some of our students progress to putting the letters to together to form words. They begin each day by reciting Pledges. Classrooms are stocked with developmental and educational toys and manipulatives which serve to stimulate your child both physically and mentally during these important early years.

The combination of structured teacher directed activities, child selected learning centers, and our K4 curriculum allow teachers to prepare their students for kindergarten while also allowing them to enjoy being with their friends. This is such a fun time for the children as our teachers integrate puppets, poems, and songs throughout the curriculum during their day.
